CIC-CP: CIC CAREER PARTNERSHIP

BACKGROUND
Utilizing the convenient location of their office in the
Binghamton University Downtown Center, CIC2020 often acts as a liaison between the University and community.  In collaboration with the Career Development Center, the CIC2020 Directorate is working with local employers to increase the number of available internships.  In the past, the directors sought out local professionals to act as mentors for BU students participating in the CIC Leadership Institute (CIC-LI).  With the size of the CIC-LI being limited to approximately 25 students, CIC2020 is looking to extend this opportunity and impact more students.

WHAT IS THE CIC-CP?
The Catalysts for Intellectual Capital 2020 (CIC2020) are in the midst of launching the CIC Career Partnership, a program designed to facilitate interaction between Binghamton University students and professionals in Greater Binghamton. Intended to act as a tool, it will provide community members with the opportunity to engage with the creative young minds as well as give students an appealing and non-traditional outlet to learn about career options and the “real world”.  CIC2020 hopes to serve as a repository for mentors and mentees to identify and connect to one another.

GOALS OF THE CIC-CP INITIATIVE
1. Provide students with a resource for mentorships in the Greater Binghamton region.
2.
Increase local internship opportunities made available from CDC’s e-recruiting.
3.
Facilitate new and interesting relationships between BU and area-wide industry.
4.
Assist local organizations and businesses develop awareness on campus.
5. Motivate BU students to pursue experience-based education and career advancement.
